The most important asset for organizations today is data. With the exponentially growing amount of information, also the project management domain is expected to become a more analytics- and data-driven practice to improve project delivery efforts, taking advantage of modern technologies and Big Data.

However, most projects are not valuing the data that they consume and produce, and are building up data and knowledge silos that at best secure and store data away into big data infrastructure but otherwise forget about the existence of such data. As a result, such data becomes a hidden and unused asset, and most projects need to start from scratch, although similar initiatives were done already before.
